Q: What makes Drums Alive® different from other drumming fitness/wellness programs such as cardio drumming?
A: Drums Alive® is the original and only evidence-based drumming fitness/wellness program that has consistently produced life-changing results that have been scientifically verified. We are proud to be the pioneers of combining music, drumming, movement, and cognitive application to improve physical, social-emotional, and brain health. Our program has been validated by over 30 studies with universities such as the University of Chemnitz, Germany; Texas State University; University of Kentucky, and Oxford Brookes University. Q: How do I become a Drums Alive instructor?
A: Thanks for your interest in Drums Alive! We would be thrilled to have you join our team of officially trained and licensed instructors. To get started, we recommend signing up for the Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training course. This course will provide you with the foundational knowledge and skills you need to teach Drums Alive classes or sessions. Whether you’re a fitness professional, an educator or schoolteacher, or a therapist, this course is essential to get you started. Once you complete the Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training, you can refine your skills and knowledge depending on your interests and the audience you serve.
Q: Are there any pre-requisites to becoming a Drums Alive Instructor?
A: We want to ensure you have the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively conduct a Drums Alive class or session, so we highly recommend that you have a nationally recognized certification in health and fitness (such as American Council on Exercise (ACE), Aerobics and Fitness Association of American (AFAA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)), OR a college degree in physical education, health, fitness, sports, sports medicine, therapy, music, dance, or related fields of study. Additionally, it is preferable that you have previously taught movement classes safely and effectively. Lastly, you must be currently certified in CPR and first aid.
Q: I have several people in my organization who need to be trained in Drums Alive. Can you help me with their registrations or does each person need to register individually?
A: We’d be more than happy to help you register your group of people for Drums Alive trainings and save you the hassle of registering individually. Please email us at hello@drums-alive.com and we’d be glad to assist you!
Q: Do you accept purchase orders?
A: We gladly accept purchase orders. Please feel free to email them to hello@drums-alive.com and don’t forget to include your phone number in case we have any questions.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept credit/payment cards, check, and ACH.
Q: How long does it take to complete the online Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training course?
A: The Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training can typically be finished in 10-14 hours, but we encourage you to take the time and really engage with the material. Get to know the program and become comfortable with the contents. Once you have completed the course, it is essential that you practice what you have learned. This will give you the confidence to deliver a great class for your first lesson. Please note – you have six months from the date of registration to complete the course. Exceptions will be granted on a case-by-case basis. Reach out to us at hello@drums-alive.com with any special requests.
Q: What happens if I need to cancel my registration?
A: We understand that sometimes circumstances change and you may need to cancel your registration. If that’s the case, we’re happy to help. If you’ve completed 25% or less of the Drums Alive Basic Instructor Online Training course, or the Drums Alive Golden Beats Online course, or the DRUMTASTIC Online Training Course and you request to cancel within one year of your registration, we’ll refund your payment minus a $75 processing fee. If you’ve completed more than 25% of the training or your request to cancel comes more than one year since your registration, unfortunately, no refund will be issued.
Q: What happens after I successfully complete the Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training? When can I start teaching Drums Alive classes/sessions?
A: If you’re planning on working with healthy, active individuals with no mobility issues, you’re all set after completing the Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training–you can start teaching Drums Alive classes/sessions right away! To become a master at delivering the Drums Alive program, it’s important to review and practice the many resources available in the Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training online course. We highly recommend joining the Drums Alive Membership. The membership will give you access to choreography videos, games, and activities for all ages, webinars, exclusive discounts, and a private Facebook group to connect with other Drums Alive instructors.
Q: Once I complete a Drums Alive training, am I required to join the Drums Alive membership?
A: No, you are not required to join the Drums Alive membership. However, if you would like to maintain your license as a Drums Alive Instructor, then you have the option to either complete another Drums Alive training, purchase one of our DRUMTASTIC curricula (the Full or Mini Curriculum Kit, or the DRUMTASTIC Mathematics in Motion Curriculum Kit), or join the Drums Alive Membership before your one-year anniversary after successfully completing a Drums Alive training.
Q: How do I join the Drums Alive Membership?
A: We’re thrilled to support you in continuing to use the Drums Alive program with your students and clients! Enrollment is open from the 1st to the 3rd of each month, and we’ll need to verify your qualifications first. To do that, we’ll need to see proof that you’ve completed a Drums Alive training or purchased a DRUMTASTIC Curriculum. We’re excited to help you on your journey with Drums Alive!
Q: What is the cost of the Drums Alive Membership?

Q: How do I keep my Drums Alive Instructor and/or my DRUMTASTIC Curriculum license active?
A: Once you have completed a Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training or purchase a DRUMTASTIC Curriculum, you’ll receive a one-year license to be an official Drums Alive instructor. To keep your license valid for another year, you have a few choices: you can complete another Drums Alive training, purchase one of our curriculum packages, or join our Drums Alive Membership for access to exclusive benefits. We want to make sure you are always up-to-date, so we will send you reminders to renew your license in advance. You can learn more about the Drums Alive license renewal process here. Q: Does the facility where I teach Drums Alive classes/sessions need to pay for a Drums Alive license?
A: No need to worry – all you need is to be a licensed Drums Alive Instructor to teach these classes/sessions.
Q: Once I successfully complete a Drums Alive training, am I allowed to train others to become Drums Alive instructors?
A: Congratulations on successfully completing the Drums Alive training! Unfortunately, only our highly-trained and qualified Drums Alive Master Trainers are licensed to conduct Drums Alive Instructor trainings. Anyone wanting to teach Drums Alive classes/sessions must complete the official Drums Alive training(s). Please remember that failure to abide by this policy will result in termination of your license as a Drums Alive Instructor. Thank you for understanding.
Q: How much am I allowed to charge for teaching Drums Alive classes/sessions?
A: Drums Alive instructors are NOT employees of Drums Alive. You are in control of your own schedule and rates when teaching Drums Alive classes/sessions. Make sure to check with the facility you are teaching at to ensure you meet their requirements.
Q: What Drums Alive training should I take after I complete the Drums Alive Basic Instructor Training?
A: If you work with individuals who have mobility challenges, we highly recommend completing the Drums Alive Golden Beats training. This program will help enhance motivation, fitness adherence, and physical, social, and emotional health. With independence, comes a longer, higher quality of life. We also recommend the Drums Alive DRUMTASTIC Ability Beats / Kids Beats 1 Reloaded MP3+MP4 download which is a thoughtfully curated collection of 20 songs and 13 accompanying choreographies that provide a brain and body workout that integrates kinesthetic awareness, neuro-muscular skills, cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strength and wellness activities while fostering creativity and inclusion.
We also suggest getting the DRUMTASTIC BASIC CURRICULUM for ready-made lesson plans for both children and adults. This program has over 100 lesson plans and Teacher Cue Cards, videos, and music that align with Physical Education and Music Education National Standards. It includes an annual subscription to all the DRUMTASTIC Lesson Plans and their resources and access to the DRUMTASTIC Online Training course. This will provide you with structure and guidance to quickly, easily, and effectively implement the Drums Alive program into your fitness facility or recreation facility.
Q: How long does it take to complete the online Drums Alive Golden Beats Training course?
A: The Drums Alive Golden Beats Instructor Training requires approximately 15-18 hours to complete, however, we recommend taking the time and immersing yourself in the material. Becoming familiar and comfortable with the content is essential for delivering a successful class when you begin teaching. After finishing the course, don’t forget to practice what you’ve learned to give you the confidence to lead your first lesson. Please note – you will have six months to complete the course from the date of registration. Exceptions will be granted on a case-by-case basis–please reach out to us at hello@drums-alive.com with any special requests.
Q: Is there a time limit to completing the Drums Alive Basic instructor Training or the Drums Alive Golden Beats course?
A: You will have one year to complete the course, starting on February 15, 2023. For those who registered prior to February 15, 2023, you will have until February 15, 2024 to complete the course and retain access to the course materials. If you register on or after February 15th, 2023, you will have six months to complete the course from the date of registration. Exceptions will be granted on a case-by-case basis–please reach out to us at hello@drums-alive.com with any special requests. Please note that if you do not complete the course within the specified timeframe, you will lose access to the course materials and you will need to register and pay for the course again at the current price.
Q: Why do you impose a time limit to complete the Drums Alive Basic instructor Training or the Drums Alive Golden Beats course?
A: We understand that it’s important to stay motivated and on track when taking any course. That’s why we set an expiration date for the Drums Alive Basic instructor Training and the Drums Alive Golden Beats course. This is to help ensure that learners complete the training in a timely manner and make the most of the valuable information they can gain from the course. We encourage you to use this deadline as motivation to work through the material and not procrastinate, so that you can implement what you learn and make a positive impact on your clients.
Q: Do you offer in-person trainings?
A: Yes, we do offer in-person trainings for groups of 15 people or more. Our master trainers are highly trained and qualified, and they can come to your facility to provide the training. Q: Do you offer virtual trainings?
A: Absolutely! We offer virtual trainings for groups of 10 people or larger. We have highly-trained and qualified master trainers who can provide the training through Zoom or other virtual meeting platform. Q: Do you offer Continuing Education Credits/Units for your courses?
A: We don’t currently offer Continuing Education Credits/Units (CEUs) for our courses, but we have helped many of our students successfully petition for them. We are working on offering CEUs for therapists and we’ll be sure to make an announcement when they become available. Keep an eye out on our newsletters and social media for updates.
